The need for a current accurate inventory of all
land and buildings owned by the Federal government was highlighted again this
week when the General Services Administration (GSA) listed 19 federal buildings
around the country it is targeting for consolidation as part of its ongoing
quest to economize through reduced leasing and office layouts that encourage
shared space.
GSA’s property inventory
is filled with “inconsistencies and inaccuracies”, according to the Government
Accountability Office. NSPS supports the Federal Land Asset
Inventory Reform (“FLAIR”) Act, H.R. 916, to create a Federal land
cadastre to accurately inventory both land and buildings and other
improvements.
I heard the government has empty buildings worth a trillion dollars???????????
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard that, but if so that's crazy, Richard!
